Electric Vehicle
Whoops. I'm very sorry: this week, I messed up. I intended for Electric Vehicle to have a meeting today, but on account of me assuming that it was on the calendar (in fact it wasn't) the Electric Vehicle meeting will be moved to next week. In the meantime, if you have free time and so desire, you can try to start to learn a bit about programming the Arduino. Here's a link to the Arduino website. I intend to finish building the chassis next week and begin wiring the circuit to make our car run.

This meeting we modified a chassis to make its axle alignment adjustable. Next week, we will finish building the chassis and begin mounting the motor. The current stage of completion is shown in a photo on the email. I apologize for my lack of attention today - I was having problems connecting to the 3d printer. But I'm also trying to get you all to work together, semi-independent from me (as I will occasionally have to deal with other Sci Oly issues).
This week we went over the rules and made a game plan for building the vehicle: 1) chassis that goes straight, 2) batteries and stepper motors that go fast, 3) Arduino code that allows it to stop on a dime. We also learned how to use a drill press and hand saw safely. We also went over the basics of working with any power tool: no loose clothing, eye protection, no distractions, no valuables on hands, etc. There will be a very simple quiz next meeting to make sure you remember how to be safe.
